ATM
Almost all cities and town have ATMs from which you can withdraw funds using debit or credit cards. Banks with ATMs that recognize international debit or credit cards are International Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Bank of Taiwan and Chinatrust Commercial Bank (CTCB). The most common and useful ATMs to foreigners are those of Chinatrust Commercial Bank, though some of the bank ATMs are only for domestic bank account holders only. Citibank and HSBC have branches in Taiwan’s five biggest cities as well.
Chinatrust Commercial Bank allows cash advances from major credit cards and ATMs can be found in 7-Eleven Convenience stores. Most mid-range travelers expenditure range is about NT$12,000 to NT$18,000 a week. If you’re planning to spend time in the places far away from the cities or town, make sure you take out enough to get you to the next city or major town.

Credit Cards
You can reduce the need to carry large sums by using credit cards for some of the payments, especially accommodation. Most of the hotels accept credit cards (Visa and MasterCard the most widely accepted), American Express and Diners Club also are fairly commonly recognized in the big cities. Major credit cards are accepted may be cashed at foreign-exchange banks, some tourist-oriented businesses as well.
