Hotels in Taiwan

Hotel accommodation is convenient in Taiwan, wherever on the island you may be--in the cities, in the countryside, even in the high mountains. Most tourist destinations and cities have a variety of hotels covering the gamut of price ranges.

Basic budget hotels rooms can be had for as low as NT$600 per night at off-peak times. At this price, rooms are likely to be a bit tatty and damp, probably with cigarette burns on the furniture and a smell of stale smoke. Still, most of them will have an attached bathroom with shower, TV and phone and will offer complimentary toiletry packages.

Ximending HotelMid-range hotels usually cost NT$1000-3000,  and standard generally vary in accordance with price. At the lower end, rooms are likely to resemble cleaner versions of budget hotels, often with the only difference being that they offer hot water and packets of tea and coffee in additional to cable TV. At the higher end, rooms can be quite clean and comfortable, with big bathtubs and/or shower cubicles, and breakfast is often included in the price.

Five-star hotels (all of the biggest cities, but especially Taipei) that feature  everything you'd expect from such chains, including giant beds with fine linen, high-speed internet connections in the rooms, business centres, fitness rooms, spa and massage services and luxury restaurants. Though discount are sometimes offered, these hotels generally charge a minimum of NT$4000 for a standard room and price are often twice that.

Hot-spring hotels are all the rage in Taiwan, but standard vary wildly according o location. Those in resort close to cities can be expensive, usually charges at least NT$6000 for rooms with Jacuzzis. If you planning not for overnight staying and wish to have a private hot-spring bath, there are many hot-spring hotels renting room for short period. The quality of the hot-spring water are varies between the resort. In general, the newer looking hotels should be your first choice if you don't wish to have end up be disappointed.
