Day 1 (14 March 2009, Saturday) - Taipei, 11˚C Cloudy/wind

1100hr : Assembly at Changi Airport
Took 1310hrs flight from Terminal 1 to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, I would say that EVA Airlines is more much better compared to Jetstar (see our budget trip to Taiwan on year 2008), EVA air have more comfortable chairs and they provided entertainments during the 4 hours journey (e.g: movies, radio and gifts for the children etc).

You may book EVA air from their website, it cost about SGD$550 per pax (taxes included).

Shop for some duty free stuffs and internet surfing while we are waiting to onboard
Meal on the flight... yumyum

1720hrs: Arrived Taipei Taoyuan International Airport
We are landed at
Terminal 1 (一航), the arrival hall are different from the place which we landed last year, here is more bigger and nicer.

The exchange rate should be higher, we found here got long queue

Taipei 101
Headed down to our first destination -- Taipei 101.
(about 1 hour journey from Taoyuan International Airport)

The building contains 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. Its postmodern style combines Asian and international modern and traditional elements. A multi-level shopping mall adjoining the tower houses hundreds of fashionable stores, restaurants and clubs.

Fireworks launched from Taipei 101 feature prominently in international New Year's Eve broadcasts, and the tower appears frequently in films, television shows, and other elements of popular culture.

Taipei 101 is designed to withstand the typhoon winds and earthquake tremors common in its area of the Asia-Pacific. Planners aimed for a structure that could withstand gale winds of 60 m/s and the strongest earthquakes likely to occur in a 2,500 year cycle.

Had our dinner at the basement level, it cost between NTD110 to NTD160 for main dish and NTD45 for dessert.

(About 20 minutes from Taipei 101)

Ximending is an extremely popular place amongst teenagers and young adults. A lot of famous Taiwanese celebrities also hold numerous events at Ximending.

Check-in Taipei VIP Hotel 上賓飯店
(About 20 minutes from Ximending)

The rooms are quite new and clean, free broadband service and PC provided at hotel lobby. But it is located quite a distance from MRT station.

Price range from Standard Room (single) NTD$2000 to NTD$3600 for Deluxe Suite (for 4 pax).

Free surfing at hotel lobby, there are a lot of food stalls nearby open until middle of the night.
